7.5 Adding New Remote Repositories

You can push or pull from any remote repository that you have read or write permission on. Typing the full name of a repository can be cumbersome, especially when you’re syncing with the same repositories over and over again.

Adding a Remote Repository Later

Starting to work on a project by cloning is great if the project already has a history, but how do you push your changes to a remote repository if you created local repository with git init?

Just add the repository you want to push to by using the git remote add command we covered in Section 7.5, ​Adding New Remote Repositories​. Call the remote repository origin if it is going to be the repository you want to push changes to by default.
