One of the most talked about new techniques is artificial intelligence (AI). AI uses high‐technology computer systems to generate information that can assist project teams in developing strategies for successful project completion. AI systems allow for data‐driven decision making and learning, as well as better planning. Applications for AI cover just about every industry. However, there are challenges with using AI, such as ethics, misinformation, creation of new business risks, and unemployment. Several of these challenges, and more besides, are discussed in the case studies in this chapter.

INTRODUCTION
During the past several years, Kane Corporation became quite interested in the advances taking place in artificial intelligence (AI). The potential benefits that many companies envisioned resulting from the continuation of AI research were significant. Kane understood quite well that new AI inventions or technical breakthroughs would have both advantages and disadvantages. Kane’s technical and project management community believed that the advantages of using AI greatly outweigh the disadvantages.
