9.1 Introduction

Over the years, there has been evolution in almost all sectors in the world. One such area where there has been an advancement is regarding technology. There have been many forms of improvement and advancement in technology, which means that new technology is better than the previous technology. The changes in technology can either be an improvement or a complete departure from the tenets of the previous technology. One such area where there has been a constant and drastic improvement over the years is in the wireless network where, currently, there is 4G. As seen from the way it is written, 4G refers to the fourth generation of mobile phone technology. As a result of being the fourth generation, it means it had previous generations, specifically 3G, which was third generation mobile phone technology, 2G which was second generation mobile phone technology, and 1G which was first generation mobile technology and the pioneer in mobile phone technology.

As expected, the next phone generation language is better than the first generation language. 1G, which was a first‐generation language was an analog kind of technology. It was therefore very limited in all that it could do, with no possibility of making voice calls over the internet.
