It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
The compute_energy() function takes the location of a particular pixel as input and computes the energy for different values of the output pixel. There are two types of energies typically:
- The first one remains low (negative) when the input and output pixel values match for that particular location, otherwise, it goes high. The η parameter is used to amplify this energy.
- The second one remains low (negative) if the pixel value in the noisy input image matches with those of its neighborhood values, otherwise, it goes high. The ς parameter is used to amplify this energy.
