Chapter 4. A Hands-on Project
What better way to learn about the Real-Time Intelligence interface than to see it for yourself in a hands-on exercise? We thought it would be nice for you to gain some experience with Real-Time Intelligence before we get into the nitty-gritty so in this chapter, we will guide you through your first end-to-end Real-Time Intelligence project using Microsoft Fabric. Along the way, you will touch upon every aspect of a full-fledged Real-Time Intelligence solution. We will go into more detail about these aspects in later chapters.
We will start by reviewing the project’s purpose and goals. Then, we’ll set up the project environment with the necessary tools, resources, and services. Next, we’ll take you through ingesting and transforming data with an eventstream. After that, you’ll work on enriching your data with some reference data from a lakehouse and implementing a medallion architecture in the eventhouse. Finally, you’ll create real-time visualizations and dashboards and add alerts through Activator.
The Scenario
First, you need to understand the context for the solution you will build. In this section, we’ll introduce you to the scenario for which you will build a solution, and then, you will have a look at the solution’s architecture before you examine the data schema.
