Appendix 5Types of Software Plugins
Plugins are software components that are detected by your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), such as Avid Pro Tools, Magix Samplitude Pro X, Cakewalk Sonar, Presonus Studio One, Apple Logic Pro, Ableton Live and many others.
These plugins can be of different formats depending on the operating system used and the software for which they are installed.
Table A5.1 specifies the characteristics of each plugin according to its format. The file name extension informs the user about the type.
Many plugins exist in multiple versions in order to adapt to different software or hardware.
