3Voice Recording

This chapter will be dedicated to sound recording itself with some recommendations from my personal experience in different situations (voice-over, singing, choir, live, etc.).

I will detail the different elements to take into account so that the performer(s) behind your microphone are in the best possible conditions while ensuring a successful recording.

I will continue with the choice of microphone(s), the recording location and the accessories to be used, while taking into account certain environmental constraints (noise, the performer’s position in relation to the microphone, positioning of the microphone). I will then focus on the problem of feedback, from headphones or from speakers, and then on the recording itself, followed by its processing. I will then take a look at the recording of backing vocals, voice-overs and live sound, and finish with the recording of one’s own voice.

3.1. Artist, comfort and environment

A very important point not to neglect when you have to record a voice is the comfort of the performer, who must feel at ease. The place must be well lit, cozy, tidy and clean, well-ventilated, with a pleasant temperature.
