Chapter 2. RF Front-End Design
This chapter is one of the best I’ve ever come across in terms of describing what exactly is in an RF front end. It comes from RF Circuit Design, 2nd Edition which was written by Christopher Bowick, John Blyler, and Cheryl Ajluni. John Blyler does an admirable job of explaining available architectures. Anticipating the spirit of today’s “tear down” culture for electronics, Blyler’s text takes the RF front end one piece at a time, and explains its basic components or functions. He also introduces major receiver types and their key specifications, such as signal-to-noise ratio, receiver sensitivity, and receiver selectivity.—Janine Sullivan Love
