It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Unix 系のマシン（Mac やLinux）はターミナル（あるいはコンソール )を開いてください。Windows
マシンの場合は、コマンドプロンプトを開いてください。
本書全体を通じて、ターミナル、コンソール、コマンドプロンプトのことをCLIと呼びます。
CLI
はCommand Line Interface（コマンドライン・インターフェイス）を意味します。
ウィンドウが開いたなら、次のように入力してください。
java -version
出力が
java version "1.8.0_25"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_25-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.25-b02, mixed mode)
のようになれば、Java がインストールされています。この例では Java 8 が動作しているので、1 つめ
の条件は満たされています。しかし、MacやLinuxで先ほどのコマンドがエラーになった場合は、次の
ような出力になるでしょう。
-bash: java: command not found
あるいは Windows であれば、次のようなエラーになるでしょう。
