The Servlet Class Hierarchy
The Servlet API specification is produced by Sun Microsystems Inc., and a copy of the latest specification can be downloaded from http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/.
An HTTP servlet extends the javax.servlet.HttpServlet class, which itself extends javax.servlet.GenericServlet, as shown in Figure 12.4.
