Secure Shell can be used for more than just protecting a remote login. For instance, it can be used to solve actual problems. This chapter includes solutions such as building a simple point-to-point virtual private network and linking two disparate networks through an intermediary bastion host.
The examples shown here use the Solaris Secure Shell software and the Solaris PPP 4.0 software in the Solaris 9 12/02 OE release. The examples could be done with OpenSSH and the ASPP software from earlier Solaris OE releases. The latter form is not presented here.
