DQL statements can be as simple or complex as you want them to be. To warm up gradually, we’ll start with the simplest examples and gradually move toward more advanced statements. Upon reaching the end of this chapter, we’ll have you empowered to tackle all kinds of data selection requirements.
The most basic form of DQL is intended to read data from a single table, so that will be our starting point. We’ll cover it in the following sections.
If you want to read all rows and all columns of a database table, you’ll need to write one of the simplest DQL statements possible! Check Listing 7.10 to see the syntax for that.
