Chapter FiveConnection
The next day as the team sat in the locker room, Ant, the team's point guard, approached Coach David. “Hey Coach, I got it,” he declared. “Check out my practice stick and see if you can break it!”
Coach David held up the stick and examined it. It was soaked end to end in some sort of glue and wrapped with string. He laughed and said, “Well, this was creative. Did you ruin the kitchen table to get the stick to look like this?”
Ant rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah,” he admitted, “my mom wasn't too happy about my art project.”
Coach lifted the stick between his finger and thumb on each hand and the players made a drum roll sound.
SNAP! The stick snapped in half, glue and all.
The guys let out a moan and grumbled as Moose and Greg headed to the front of the group to present their word. “Okay guys,” Moose began, “our word is Connection.”
