Confirmation should never be limited to fundamentals alone.
By the same argument, it makes little sense to confine our investi-
gation to technical analysis, which is short term by definition. A
thoughtful combination of fundamental and technical indicators is
a sensible attribute of confirmation, while we continue to depend
largely on well-established (and confirmed) fundamental trends for
comparative long-term study. Just as a corporate executive or ac-
countant has to validate assumptions with financial support, in-
vestors and analysts may depend on confirmation through financial
information to strengthen their beliefs concerning fundamental
