William Addison Dwiggins (1880–1956) was a typographer, type designer, puppeteer, and author. The American book trade owes a debt to Dwiggins for bringing style and good design sense into mainstream publishing, most notably with the work he did on Borzoi Books for the publisher Alfred A. Knopf. He is respon-sible for reintroducing colophon pages, which give details about a book’s typography and fascinating facts about the typefaces used. Caledonia, Metro, Elektra, and Eldorado are Dwiggins’ typeface designs.
