英語圏で出版されているスタッフエンジニアの役割についての書籍は、本稿執筆（2024年5月）時点ではまだ2冊しかありません。最初の1冊であるWill Larsonの『Staff Engineer: Leadership beyond the management track』は2021年に出版され、その翌年の2022年に本書の原書である『The Staff Engineer's Path』が出版されました。時をほぼ同じくして出版されているこの2冊が出版されるまでの流れを、ここでざっと紹介します。
