A.3 Unit Testing with Swift Testing

Swift Testing is the new kid on the block. Unlike its ancestor, XCTest, which was originally built for Objective-C and later adopted by Swift, Swift Testing was built from scratch, targeting Swift exclusively. It uses simple annotations and macros, resulting in concise and readable tests.

In this section, you will create a project similar to the one in the former section and see how Swift Testing would be applied.

No TDD in Examples

As in the XCTest section, we won’t strictly follow TDD practices for Swift Testing because our purpose is to help you understand the test tools in Xcode. You can apply TDD practices in your projects later on.
