Real-time simply means you see trades, bids, and offers within seconds of their occurrences. You are viewing the markets at virtually the same time as those who provided them. In contrast, end-of-day data shows market summaries (open, high, low, and close). The bulk of analysis done by investors works fine with this data.
Live stock quotes scrolling across the bottom of your television screen are always impressive. Ask yourself, however, if you can read those letters and numbers as fast as they are offered. Do you even know what stock the symbols are representing? Scrolling market quotes are pure entertainment and cannot help you invest.
