The Timeline is spread out in both a horizontal and vertical layout. Horizontally, the cells are spread into frames, or over time.
You’ll find it helpful to organize your scenes into layers. You can insert a new layer by clicking on the leftmost button below your existing layer in the Timeline.
The layers are vertically stacked. In the example at the bottom of this page, the Storyboard layer is behind the character layer. You would do the same with a background stacked “below” a character.
