I am often asked why causality is my passion. Why have I dedicated so much time to working on this and educating people on multiple continents? To me, it is so obvious that I often forget that it might sound surprising. Most of our important questions are about cause and effect: What is the effect of this vaccine? What is the impact of pollution on mortality? What is the cause of this conflict? What is the impact of mobile phones and social media on mental health?

As most of our questions rely on causality, most of our decisions do as well. We decide to implement a policy because we expect an impact (causal effect) on poverty, pollution, or health. We make business decisions expecting positive effects on growth.
