Political scientists have classified states into unitary and federal states. |

(i) A unitary state |
A unitary state is a state where there is only one government, namely national government. |
|
A unitary state may create local sub-divisional or regional governments which enjoy such power and authority as may be delegated by the national government. |

It is competent for the national government to revoke such delegated powers or any of them at its will. |
