In chapter four, I discussed and showed how ToA index statuses and how ToA practices contribute to the co-construction of higher-lower relationships in secondary school clubs in Japan. This is, however, just one part of the whole set of micro-level discourses that together constitute the hierarchical order in daily interactional routines. In the present chapter, I show other aspects of micro-level language use and expected (linguistic) behaviours that also constitute such relationships.
