7 Jouge kankei: Discursive construction, characteristics, implications and future outlook

In this final and concluding chapter, I first summarise the key findings of this volume to highlight the main characteristics of jouge kankei, and how results of this study have answered my research questions raised in chapter one. Next, I show that, despite how jouge kankei could change its degree of manifestation depending on certain variables and contexts, its nature and underlying ideology remain rather consistent. On this basis, and comparing my data with existing studies, I draw parallels between jouge kankei in school clubs and in adult corporate contexts.
