Abstract

The delivery of modern health care involves a variety of professionals, ranging from physicians and other health care professionals to diagnostic technicians and information technology specialists. All of them are implicated in the construction, handling, or communication of electronic health records (EHRs) and, because of the distinct nature of their involvement, handle EHRs in ethically distinct ways. Modern health care also tends to have an institutionalized structure, which means that it relies on access to and use of EHRs.
