CHAPTER 9How to Build Trust
Think about the last time you just knew that trust had been broken, either with your customers or with your workforce. Now think about what you did through trial and error (just like we used to do) to rebuild trust. In this chapter, we aim to make trust‐building less of a guessing game.
We hope you will begin to measure trust using the HX TrustID, and, more importantly, we hope you will take the time to invest in trust‐building actions both internally and externally. Our aim is to empower you to do this over time, improving trust scores and reporting progress to ensure accountability. We'll share the steps we have used and refined for more than a decade to build trust outcomes with our teams and our customers. But we will start with how you as a leader can build trust as an individual.
How You Can Build Trust as an Individual
Whatever your specialty or level of leadership, there are ways to get a trust movement underway—to conceive a trust ambition, design and pilot a practice, and change the way you're working. Even if you can't get a large trust practice going, at least you can make trust part of your own leadership philosophy and how you show up every day.
