Preface

The first edition of this book was written with two goals for the reader in mind: (1) identifying and explaining the primary drivers required to lead successful programs (what is truly important for success) and (2) providing the reader with counsel, tips, and tactics a trusted mentor would share. It was not written for use as a textbook, but it pleases me when I see it on academic syllabi. It was not written to align with a particular standard or be the basis for use in preparing for program management certification, but I am pleased when program managers cite it as valuable for certification preparation.
