2 The evolution of business schools: past and present
Higher education is in a time of transition, and colleges and universities alike are struggling to keep pace. This effect is particularly seen in schools where their pedagogical foundations are evolving so quickly—and so dramatically—that adapting curricula, faculty, and support resources is a daily challenge. This is most visibly seen, perhaps, in business schools where challenges come from a number of external factors:
Changing student populations (new generations, cultures, attitudes)
Emerging and evolving labor market and workplace demands
New technologies and research on learning methods and pedagogy
New market and societal “shocks”; e.g., climate change, social media, sustainability ...
