This chapter gives a short description of all of the common tools used in Lean that have not been covered elsewhere in the book. In Chapter 6 I provided an overview of the three tools and concepts that are most commonly used in Lean implementation: 5S/visual management, standard work and cells. This chapter provides an overview of a further seven most commonly encountered Lean implementation tools and why you might want to use them:
• Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) – to maximize equipment ‘up time’ and reduce maintenance costs.
