1. Zombie-ism. Nations decline when their insiders get control of the government and major industries. They pervert the system with privileges, bailouts, subsidies, and so forth. The economy becomes inefficient. And this is a very difficult trap from which to escape. He points out that the remedy typically requires one of two things: a war or a revolution.
2. Militarism. Bill applies the concept of zombification to the military, where it is more dangerous. “A man with a gun thinks every problem can be solved by his trigger finger. Look for more spending by the Pentagon, more adventures overseas and more militarization at home. Militarism is profoundly harmful to an economy because it diverts resources from genuine, productive uses.”
3. Bankruptcy. The Feds are spending too much money. Way too much. They will not be able to cut back. First they will borrow. Then they will print. The result will be catastrophe.
