In the professional world of sound award achievements for film and television, the three standards are the Golden Reel Awards (Motion Picture Sound Editors Society), the Emmy (the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences), and of course the most coveted of all, the Academy Award (the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). While the Golden Reel and the Emmy give numerous awards each year for sound for many aspects and many categories, there is only one Academy Award each year for Best Sound Editing and for Best Sound Mixing.
