11.1. Introduction

As apprentices, we are at the heart of the challenges of work-linked training.

Confronted daily with the reality on the ground, we must juggle with periods in school and periods in companies with masterful skills. It is a technical exercise that requires us to be agile and adaptable in order to reconcile the two. As a result, moving towards an apprenticeship is a real choice, which allows you to:

• – pursue your studies while learning a new occupation;
• – confront the reality on the ground;
• – have easier access to a job;
• – help students regarding their professional and personal development;
• – finance your studies.

11.2. Apprenticeship, an increasingly conscious and deliberate choice

Our education system offers us the opportunity to pursue our studies in initial training (mainly courses, internships and/or university exchanges abroad) or in apprenticeship training.

Indeed, we have the opportunity to continue our studies in fields of excellence while acquiring new skills and significant professional experience.

Students are increasingly asking themselves whether they should complete all or a part/portion of their apprenticeship studies. Many of them realize that the acquisition of a degree without having significant work experience is no longer sufficient and that a single six-month end-of-study internship is not necessarily enough on the labor market.
