The assembly of the founding team impacts the path and outcome of a new venture more than any other decision in its life cycle. By definition, the founding team cannot be changed later. The founding team, for all practical purposes, is irreplaceable. A good team of cofounders makes for a strong foundation on which difficult situations can be overcome. A bad team turns daily routine into a nightmare and will fail when the first crisis hits.
