Line

Line is an extremely important visual component because it communicates visual intensity and is also critical to the visual components of space, shape, movement, and rhythm.

How do we see lines? We see lines because of tonal contrast. For a line to be visually useful, it needs to stand out from its background. Any line can be revealed or hidden depending on its tonal relationship with the background.
