It is a privilege to write the closing remarks for this exquisite
anthology in celebrating the pioneering contributions of Professor
Anthony Constantinides, who has tirelessly promoted the develop-
ment of digital signal processing over a period close to fifty years.
As an inspirational scientist, research leader, educator and
prolific PhD advisor, he influenced generations of signal process-
ing enthusiasts with his shrewd long-term vision, charisma and
boundless energy. The celebratory colloquium organized to mark
his seventieth birthday was a true testimony to the global influence
