Navigation Signals
Abstract
Chapter 4 describes navigation signals in general. It explains the basic structure of a generic signal and provides the details of every component of it. The rationale for the design of each tier of the signal, including the data, ranging code, and modulation, is mentioned with technical elaboration. The discussion on the generic content of the navigation data is also supported by relevant topics such as error control coding and cyclic code generation encryption. The theoretical background of the pseudo random noise code is discussed before a description of details of the ranging codes, and is followed by the effects of its use, including multiple access and data security.
