ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Alan MacCharles spent 27 years at Deloitte. He focuses on pre-deal advisory issues, and in particular joint venture formation. Working with senior executives and boards, he has helped his Fortune 500 clients complete many large, international joint ventures. Prior to concentrating on joint ventures, Alan worked in pre-deal M&A advisory where he built a team of 100 from scratch in China. The combination of working internationally, understanding the M&A environment and focusing on joint ventures has created unique perspectives on the challenges of joint venturing – which is shared in the book along with a range of tools, techniques (and stories!).
Alan has been published or quoted in major news publications including the Financial Times, the South China Morning Post, Fortune, Nature, China Daily, etc. He is an active speaker on the topics of strategy, joint ventures, and globalization. He has taught courses and classes at a number of universities including Aberdeen (UK), Cranfield (UK), Duke (US), Webster (US) and Western (Canada).
Alan is continuing to work with Fortune 500 consulting clients and is developing Duke-Kunshan University’s executive education program.
