Early UTM initiatives have sought to acquire data, to develop, test, and refine concept of operations (ConOps) and architectures, to perfect technologies, forge strategic alliances, validate business models, and secure regulatory approvals. Each component of a UTM deployment has required examination, including how they interact and maintain the safety of a nation's airspace system. The following initiatives and implementations represent a few of the early significant, influential, and innovative efforts to advance the state of UTM.
