Glossary
This glossary is a quick introduction for some of the commonly used terms in the book, including explanations on how they are handled. This is especially true for the term MR for mixed reality. The MR definition is often debated, as explained later on.
XR
Stands for extended reality and is the umbrella term for all variations of spatial computer interactions, including VR, AR, and MR. XR is often interchangeably used with immersive media or spatial computing.
VR
Virtual reality creates an artificial three-dimensional environment for interaction. Virtual reality is as unlimited as the human imagination and has been the subject of sci-fi pop culture, such as in Neal Stephenson’s 1992 novel Snow Crash and Ernest Cline's 2011 novel Ready ...
