Why Be Disciplined?

When we want to enhance our muscular strength, we exercise: a process of using our muscles to perform work. Those same muscles that perform the work are strengthened little by little so that they can carry out even more work. In the same way, the exercise of discipline amplifies our overall level of discipline.

The more involved one is in disciplined activity, the more growth in personal discipline will occur. Because discipline both builds and is supported by mental faculties and moral character, it is the primary attribute of the professional programmer. Without discipline, one cannot truly be a professional programmer.
