So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Conclusion
Writing secure CGI and API programs is a very difficult task. CGI scripts can potentially compromise the entire security of your web server. To make things worse, no amount of testing will tell you if your CGI script is error-free.
The solution to this apparent dilemma is to follow strict rules when writing your own CGI or API programs and then to have those scripts carefully evaluated by someone else whom you trust.
