The default WordPress URL structure uses query parameters to load the necessary posts and pages. So, the URL of a post will look like http://www.example.com/?p=130. This is not ideal, as its difficult to remember the post ID and search engines won't give a higher preference to such URLs. Therefore, we need a better URL structure that doesn't use query parameters and gives a SEO-friendly URL. So, we use the WordPress permalinks section to change the URL structure. Then, WordPress will internally convert those SEO-friendly URLs to the default URL structure. We can access the permalinks settings section from Settings | Permalinks.
