So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

In the TSO foreground, you are not allowed to switch to a real UID of 0. You may only switch
the effective UID to 0. This is what the ISHELL does when you run the ISHELL command su
as a BPX.SUPERUSER.
Using an effective UID of 0 is sufficient in most situations. There are some commands,
however, that check the authorization of the real UID of the process. Such commands may
fail if you do not switch to a real UID of 0 when the effective UID is set to 0. Note that the pax
command and the find command that are used in the COPYPAX procedure, shown in B.4,
“COPYPAX” on page 325, behave this way.
