Introduction

Abstract

This chapter serves as an introduction to the whole book. The main contents of the whole book are outlined chapter by chapter.

In this book several contributions to the theory of generalized linear multivariable control are made that provide extensions to some results in polynomial matrix description (PMD) theory, behavioral theory, and ${\mathcal{H}}_{\infty }$ control theory. We highlight the application of linear multivariable control in congestion control of the Internet as well. The remaining parts of this book are organized as follows.
