It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Active Directory is the directory service included with Windows Server. Active Directory includes the directory that stores information about your distributed resources as well as the services that make the information useful and available. All versions of Windows Server since Windows 2000 support Active Directory.
