So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Starting and Stopping Active Directory Domain Services
On domain controllers that are running Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Server, you must restart a domain controller in Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM) to stop AD DS. When you are running in DSRM, you can perform basic database management procedures, including offline defragmentation. When you are finished managing the database, you can restart the domain controller in normal mode to resume normal operations. (For more information, see "Restarting a Domain Controller in Directory Services Restore Mode" in Chapter 3.)
