3.1 Introduction
With the rapid evolution of technology, computation, and data availability, artificial intelligence (AI) has been increasingly incorporated into our daily lives and occupational settings in recent years. Broadly speaking, AI can be implemented in various forms, including physical (e.g., robots, smart devices, and autonomous vehicles) and virtual (e.g., chatbots and AI platforms) implementations. Human–AI interaction has become an integral and unavoidable part of contemporary society. In other words, learning how to successfully interact with AI should be highlighted as an important lesson for individuals across backgrounds. This chapter aims to provide readers with fundamental knowledge regarding human–AI interaction, including (1) entities involved in the interaction, (2) varying interaction levels, and (3) critical elements of the interaction. The expected outcome of this chapter is to offer an in-depth understanding of the dynamics and determinants shaping successful human–AI interaction.
