I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Creating an In-Place Family
An in-place family gives you the best of both worlds. When you start the In-Place Family command, your model turns into the Family Editor. You can make a family exactly the same way you just did, except that it's native to the model. Many times, you'll need this flexibility when you have a family that you'll never use again in any other building. This also gives you the flexibility to create custom content that can't be created using the conventional Revit commands.
To create an in-place family, follow along with this procedure:
- Open the model you've been working on.
- Open the section view called West Wing South Wall Section. You're in the atrium.
- On the Home tab, click Component Model In-Place, as shown in Figure ...
