When a glider does not maintain altitude, the phenomenon is called descending or diving. If the glider does not generate enough lift for its own weight, then the glider will fly down towards the ground. In this situation, the nose of the glider will be pointed downwards. So, with the ground, the nose of the glider creates an angle that is known as the gliding angle.
