The success or failure of our projects and change initiatives ultimately rests with the individuals we work with. As leaders and managers we're dependent on these people, so it pays to respect them and afford them both time and trust.
Since we can't do everything ourselves, we need to trust others and empower them to do the work that needs to be done. If we don't give people the authority to act on their own initiative, then not only will we make a lot more work for ourselves, but we won't make the most of their experience and skills.
