UVs and Texturing

With polygon models, texture placement is controlled by the UVs imbedded in the mesh. UVs are a two dimensional coordinate system which correspond to the X and Y direction of a 2D image respectively. Because UVs are flat, they can be used to assign a 2D image onto a 3D object.
